Where are the relevant ads?!

September 10, 2007 |

Just a reminder to the Search Engines. I know you can read this but probably won’t comprehend it because you’re all bunch of “stupid” robots. The lxpages.com is a local search website, it provides yellow pages data of over 17 million+ U.S businesses in English, Spanish and soon to be released Chinese languages.

One of the reasons this blog exist is to promote the name LXPages to as many people/sites as possible. Because of lack of interest in any other type of content, we just write about technical stuff that has nothing to do with the main purpose of our website.  As a result, Google decides to display bunch of technical related ads instead of relevant ads on the actual website! Most of these ads are Linux related even though there is not a single word mentioning it. See for yourself.

Now what the hell are we supposed to do here? Stop writing technical articles because Google isn’t able to serve relevant ads? What is blog.lxpages.com has to do with www.lxpages.com or spanish.lxpages.com? Why does it matter if one site has different content than the other? Why can’t Google just serve ads specific to that page’s content!?!

I’ll continue writing about this headache next time but for now I have no plans to stop writing technical articles. I hope Google just fixes itself up and serve ads that are relevant to that specific page only and not because of the damn blog page.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I do see relevant ads about puppies and dogs and stuff like that.

    Well that’s good to hear.
But try searching for something new. I just tried searching for pizza and all i get is ads like:

    UNIX Linux Careers
    Top UNIX Hosting - 2007
    and so on…
    Not even one relevant ad.

    Sir,

This is a shameless promotion of your fantastic local search site LXPages.com. I was about to write an article praising it and hopefully getting my site listed on yours but I think this will not temp my curry in a hurry!

    To mr Om Malik,

You mean the blog is a shameless promotion or the article I wrote about google’s lack of ad relevancy?

At least I’m not going around mass mailing millions of people. Our local search site, LXPages.com is a legitimate and contender in local search market.

If you were going to praise, please go for it. Don’t be so harsh. Any publicity is good publicity for us.

    I like your site btw.
